Wendy E. Brawer is Green Map System's Founder and Director. She has been an eco-designer, public educator and consultant since 1990, as seen at EcoCultural.info.

Wendy created the first Green Apple Map of New York City in 1992 and published the 5th citywide edition in 2006. Wendy initiated the global Green Map System in 1995 and leads its development. She is founder of a small eco-design firm, Modern World Design, focused on energy generation and waste reduction. She has taught at NYU, Cooper Union and presented at more than 25 universities and conferences. Recognition includes Woman of Earth/Terre de Femmes (Yves Rocher Foundation 2005), Designer in Residence, (Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum 1997) and a Sea Change Award (Gaea Foundation 2003).

Since 1990, Wendy's New York-based company, Modern World Design, has consulted and created services and products that promote ecological stewardship, including the Green Apple Map of NYC's environmentally significant places.

Under Wendy's direction, this project has grown into the Green Map System, an award-winning local-global collaboration now active in over 45 countries. With a globally designed visual language of Icons and programs for both city-wide and youth mapmakers, in 2000, Green Map System was spun off as a not-for-profit organization that Wendy continues to direct.

Tara DePorte has been the Program Director of the Lower East Side Ecology Center since 2001. Her accomplishments include the development and implementation of citywide environmental education programs and creation of the East River Park Environmental Learning Center. She also serves as the NYC Department of Sanitation Manhattan Compost Educator and founder and implementer of NYC's first Women in Science Day. Recently, Ms. DePorte took on the role of U.N. Liaison and Regional Coordinator of the Women's Global Green Action Network. For this role, current projects include the development and coordination of capacity building trainings for international women participating in United Nations-sanctioned environmental conferences, development of the organization guidelines, and representation of organizational needs/goals at United Nations conferences and meetings.

She recently returned from training with Al Gore and his "Climate Project", which trained a select group of people to present a slideshow from the movie. Tara has a Masters from Columbia University and the Earth Institute in climate change and policy.

Speth's name is linked to the UN's Global Compact/Global Compact Corporate Partners, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Sloan & Kettering Foundation, and the Guggenheim Foundation.

Speth served as Administrator of the United Nations Sustainable Development Program (UNDP) from 1993 to 2000. He was the highest-ranking American in the UN system: "in effect the No. 2 job at the U.N. next to the secretary general."[1][2]

Previously, Speth founded and was the first president of the World Resources Institute (WRI) in 1982 and served as its president until January 1993. Based in Washington, D.C., WRI, is a center for policy research and technical assistance on environment and development issues. At the time, Speth also served as a senior advisor to President-elect William Jefferson Clinton's transition team, "heading the group that examined the USA role in natural resources, energy and the environment."[3]

Before founding WRI, Speth served as a Member and then as Chairman (two years) of the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) in the Executive Office of the President (1977-1981). As President James Earl Carter, Jr.'s CEQ Chairman, Speth was the "principal advisor on matters affecting the environmental programme." Under Speth's leadership, "CEQ and the Department of State produced the Global 2000 Report, which expanded national environmental policy to embrace global concerns." That experience led to the founding of WRI.[4]

In 1981 and 1982, he was Professor of environmental and constitutional Law at Georgetown University. From 1970 to 1977, he was a senior attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council [5], an environmental organization he co-founded and where he continues as a member of the Board of Trustees.[6]

Scott received a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Planning and Masters in Energy and Environmental Education from Humboldt State University in 1981/2. He worked as Energy Services Specialist for City of Riverside Public Utilities Department from 1982-88. Then went to work for the Turlock Irrigation District as their Energy Conservation Supervisor from 1988-92. He has been in his current position with the Truckee Donner Public Utility District since 1992 as the District’s Planning Director and Conservation Administrator.

The main focus of Scott’s career has been in energy, water efficiency, renewable energy, green building and sustainability. Scott’s primary work has been in the Truckee community, but has worked on developing several partnerships throughout the region in the areas of green building and sustainability. Scott has developed many local, state and national award winning programs throughout his 25 year career. Scott recently worked with the CEC and other partners to conduct a biomass bio-gasification pilot/study.

Scott received a Regional Sustainability Vision award from the No. NV Architect’s Institute of America(AIA) earlier this year. Scott is a Certified Energy Manager through the National Association of Energy Engineers and is a certified Residential Energy Auditor.
